Almost ready

Despite collapsing twice…

I need to think of a sturdier way to grow my peas next year - these collapsed onto my peppers last week despite weaving some more canes through the netting. I should of known better, like a few puny canes were going to keep this lot upright…

My one and only courgette has its first flower - hubs was not that excited when he saw it. I think hes still recovering from the glut we had last year.. Personally i like courgettes, i just wish they would store longer and freeze ok.. Hopefully they’ll not threaten to dig it up like they did last year..

Does anyone know what this is - some kind of poppy ?

It appeared in my blackcurrant bush. My lottie neighbour has a few in her fruit bed,. I was hoping she could tell me but i haven’t seen her for a while. I don’t recall her having flowers in her fruit bed last year, its obviously blown over and self seeded in my fruit bed. I pulled it out as it was growing up through the bush “typical” It couldn’t self seed a few inch’s to the left, i would of kept it if it had..  its very pretty….

That is indeed a gorgeous poppy.
Despite not having any on our allotment site last year, we’ve got quite a few on the plot this year, mostly growing through the broad beans. Rather annoyingly, they are prettier and doing better than the ones I’m trying to grow in the garden!

Papaver somniferum - an annual poppy is what you have there.
    The peas are doing well!

Your peas look fantastic! As does that gorgeous poppy!

I’m delighted to read that you are to use this blog for your other interests as well. I do the same with mine. Originally it was to be centred around my work and mainly about healing stuff, but my love of gardening is so great that it became a bit of an allotment blog, and I’m such a social whirler that it is now interspersed with fabulous things to do in London and general chit-chat of life.
I look forward to reading more about yours.

Rain’s here - it’s only water, and we DO need it….
