asparagus dilemma

I ordered 9 Asparagus crowns, expecting them to arrive in Feb .(The delivery date that was stated on the website.) They arrived a week later “idiots”. I haven’t even started to prepare the bed yet. So what do i do now? will they be ok in pots? I’m thinking of keeping them in pots then when the foliage dies back i can cut it down, so, fingers crossed in March ill be able to plant them into the bed. Well that’s the theory anyway, will it work in practice? In the mean time iv got some serious preparation and weeding to do… hope they don’t die on me !

I certainly wasn’t expecting them to have foliage, thought they would be crowns with roots, dig a trench …blah blah blah

Ooooh, asparagus! I’d love some, but will have to wait till I’m ready for them. I hope yours will be okay Dee. Seeing as they are fairly grown, how long before you eat some? You cracked me up with the ‘idiots’ and ’stupid idiots’, lol! Confused though, if you were expecting them to arrive in Feb, aren’t they 4 months early? What am I missing? (blush)
