Ok, now im really confused..Have been looking at a few companion planting sites to see what would be good to plant in between my potato trenches and they contradict.. One says pumpkins are good fellows the other says their baddies. Has anyone tried this before, i have some Jack B Littles and Hooligans that i had planned to plant there, now im not so sure its a good idea..Hmm looks like its back to plan A ..Marigolds!
Appreciate some feedback on this ![]()

Dee - I’m not sure if you can do the full companion planting bit with spuds as they put on loads of foliage, so cover up everything else.
I’ve gone for the inter-cropping technique in the past e.g. quick to grow salads and radishes

I always discover that different books/sites/whatever tell different tales, not only about gardening either. I would personally stick with marigolds - at least you know that they work!
I’m growing some rather bizarre alien-looking Peruvian corn myself at the mo - some pics on my blog…..
