half empty or half full
Things are starting to wind down at the plot now - The plot is looking quite empty, just my brassicas, leeks, a few measly carrots and beetroot still on the plot. I have some cauliflowers to go in sometime this week [snow march, ready in march, hence the name] Iv probably set myself up for a fall with these as I’m getting quite cocky over the first lot of caulis i grew [hard to grow - nah their a doddle]
Iv been pretty busy using up the gluts, filling my freezer with..
Courgette soup, Tomato soup, Tomato Sauce, Veggie bakes and Curries. There’s still more toms than i know what to do with, along with enough Jams and Pickles to feed an army.. I need a bigger kitchen to house this lot…
Plum, Raspberry, Blackberry Jams
Pickled onions, Piccalilli, Courgette Pickle, Green Tom Pickle and onion relish [onion marmalade if your posh]
Were allowed to start burning again so.. its back to clearing the rest of the brambles and small plum seedlings at the back. Thought i did a good job with the bramble last year but its back with a vengeance [bloody stuff is refusing to die] as a last resort iv bought some bramble killer - pretty heavy stuff that i wanted to avoid using but iv now had enough of taking one step forward and two steps back. Its going to die…..

We’ve got a bramble problem too - this year we’re burning it and then covering the site with thick black plastic weighted down with bricks. If it can come back after all that it might need a stake through the heart or a silver bullet!

Ooh I’d love to make my own piccalilli. Where do you get the recipe from?
