in like a lion!
Today was the first time i visited the Lottie in two weeks..
I popped in my shallots and onion sets while hubs carried on cutting and burning at the back..I forgot to cover them, so i suspect the birds will shuffle them around a bit after i spent time putting them in neat little rows. Ill live to regret that when i need to hoe
The burning is coming along slowly as its either too damp or windy.. When summer gets here the Lottie rules are pretty strict about burning as the neighbouring houses complain about smoke [not keen when they are sitting in their gardens] cant blame them really. I was really hoping we would have the bulk of it done by now.
My toms have all germinated…yeah. Only one of my peppers has popped up so far [early days yet] and i have also decided to grow some aubergines this year, ill start those off tomorrow. I’m also going to put in a a couple of rows of leeks that ill sow at the end of the month..
I very much doubt if ill get much time down there this week as we have a severe weather warning for Monday, 80 mile hour winds and with other commitments it looks like it’ll be Friday before i can manage a visit. I was hoping to sow my peas and beans and put in my early potatoes, some sweet peas, and some weeding Fingers crossed the weather on Friday will be fine; Toes crossed that the carpet i have covering some of the plot doesn’t end up on next doors plot [again] which is where i found it today.I couldn’t move it on my own as it was so wet and heavy though the wind manged to lift it and toss it over there!. And.. i have also acquired a couple of extra compost bins I have no idea where they came from as the plots either side of me have wooden bins.. Hopefully March will go out like a lamb!

It’s aggravating when the weather turns bad just when you’ve planned time on the allotment
Perhaps the wind will blow the carpet back again.

It’s frustrating isn’t it. Just as you get geared up to really get going with the seed sowing, the wind starts a howling and a wuthering!

Share your frustration. March is always a crap month. You’ve just got to stick it out. I’m hopping from foot to foot waiting to get cracking in April!
