allotment update
Its been a while since i have updated my photos. These past few weeks i have only managed to pop down to my plot for the odd hour in between the rain. Just to check things over. So there’s not much progress clearing it, I was hoping to get down there this weekend to plant the rest of my brassicas, but the forecast is more rain-Boo.
I have some calabrese,broccoli,kale and chard to go in. When i was down there last weekend my courgettes were almost ready, So ill have to make a run for it in between the heavy rain thats forcast for the next couple of days. Its quite dark here at the moment,”there’s a storm a brewing”…
I dug up a few potatoes on Monday. My Desiree and Ur, cant remember what the whites are. Shite, my memory, its bad. I must make an effort to keep a record of what and where i have planted, its getting beyond a joke now..
The whites, could be swift, or aran pilot? When i planted the tubers some got mixed up. Well, a spud is a spud..Right… The reds (Desiree) were planted in march on a lazy bed. I cut the grass, spread some compost on top, popped the tubers on and then covered them by lifting the sod on both sides and flipping it over. (my kinda planting) The others were grown in bags-three tubers per bag.
I am amazed at how many i got from each as i didn’t expect to get many from three tubers. “How wrong was i ! and they were huge”….
