Plot update

I brought home one of my butternut squash yesterday as the muppet that i am i accidentally harvested it. (snapped off the vine) The skin is still a little soft so I’m hoping it will ripen ok at home. I had read that it looses it flavour if it ripens off the vine? Well.. if thats so, theres always chutney! The others should be ready in a few weeks time then i can lift the plastic and start to clear the couch underneath.

Everything else is doing fine. My romanesco cauli  look great, I didn’t notice their tiny heads until i peeled back a leaf and saw their pale green heads nestled amongst their huge leaves. Also my very early broccoli, well.. I’m not sure of those, I thought they would have some spears by now. When i planted them i was told they would be ready for harvest from Sept under favourable conditions? No sign yet.

My Brussels  seem to be doing well, they wont make it home though as hubs loves um and eats them raw. Iv Caught him a few times looking longingly at them. So.. things are ticking along nicely at the moment. One last thing, what it says on the packet ain’t necessarily true! How do i tell when my veg is ready to harvest?

Hopefully next year will yield less headaches!!..  and i will not feel it necessary to read or listen to a load of contradictory advice and learn from ones own mistakes! they are a lovely bunch up at my lottie but can throw too much information my way, sometimes that can be a bad thing
